Care by Material
Hemp & Hemp-Cotton
Backpacks, footwear uppers, hoodies & pullovers
Do
- • Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, or hand wash
- • Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent
- • Line dry in shade — hemp softens with every wash
- • Warm iron while slightly damp if needed
Don’t
- • Never bleach or use fabric softener
- • Avoid hot tumble drying (it can shrink the weave)
- • Don’t store damp — hemp is durable but dislikes trapped moisture
- • Skip harsh stain removers; spot-treat gently instead
Cotton & Handwoven Dhaka

Do
- • Hand wash or gentle machine wash in cold water
- • Wash Dhaka separately the first few times — natural dyes can bleed
- • Dry in shade to keep colours deep and true
- • Steam or medium-heat iron for a crisp finish
Don’t
- • Don’t wring or twist — press water out gently
- • Avoid direct, prolonged sunlight when drying
- • Never bleach handwoven Dhaka
- • Keep the Dhaka topi dry; spot clean rather than soak
Wool

Do
- • Hand wash cold with a wool-specific detergent
- • Press gently and dry flat, reshaping while damp
- • Store folded with cedar or neem to deter moths
- • Air between wears — wool naturally refreshes
Don’t
- • Never machine wash on a warm cycle or tumble dry
- • Don’t hang wet knitwear — it stretches out of shape
- • Avoid direct heat and radiators
- • Don’t wring; it felts the fibres
Washing
- • Always check the care label on the item first
- • Cold water protects colour and fibre on natural textiles
- • Turn garments inside out before washing
- • Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear
Drying & Ironing
- • Line or flat dry in shade — sun fades natural dyes
- • Iron while slightly damp for the best finish
- • Use a pressing cloth over prints and embroidery
- • Match heat to fibre: low for wool, warm for hemp/cotton
Storage
- • Keep goods in a cool, dry, breathable space
- • Use cotton bags rather than sealed plastic long-term
- • Add neem leaves or cedar to deter insects
- • Air stored textiles periodically
Stains
- • Blot — never rub — a fresh stain
- • Test any cleaning agent on a hidden area first
- • Oil marks: lift with cornstarch before washing
- • When in doubt, choose a professional clean
Footwear & Forged Steel
HEMP FOOTWEAR
- • Brush off dry dirt, then spot clean uppers with mild soap and a soft cloth
- • Air dry away from direct heat; never machine wash
- • Protect from prolonged soaking and store with the shape supported
KHUKURI & FORGED STEEL
- • Keep the blade dry; wipe clean after every use
- • Apply a thin film of oil to guard against rust, and store in its scabbard
- • Condition the leather sheath occasionally; handle the edge with care
